North South University is the first private university of Bangladesh.it is establish in 1993. This university allows the American education system with all its distinctive features-semesters, credit hours, letter grades, examiner system and so on.
In 1993. Dr. Hafiz G. A. Siddiqi & Vice Chancellor provides dynamic leadership , improving culture & various academic programs .
In 1993, The first class starts of January & 137 students are got admitted in three Departments: Business Administration, Economics & Computer Science. In 1997 , Department of master’s in business Administration, Departments of Environmental Studies (DES), English and General and Continuing Education (GCE)are open.
In 2002 Master’s in Development Studies and Bachelor’s in Computer Engineering programs are found . Bachelor’s in Architecture , Electrical and Electronic Engineering (EEE) , Master’s in Public Health programs ,Master’s in English, Pharmacy (Undergraduate) and Executive MBA programs, , Bachelor’s & Master in Resources and Environmental Management (MREM ), Master’s in Biotechnology and Master in Public Policy and many programs are launch near about each year.
First convocation of North south university is held on 18th December in 1996 By justice Shahabuddin Ahmed, Honorable President of Bangladesh and Chancellor of NSU, conferred degrees upon 96 graduates.& 2nd convocation In 1998,3rd convocation in 1999,4th convocationin 2000,5th convocation in 2001 ,6th convocation in 2002 ,& each year convocation are held.
The 14th & last convocation of North South University are held in 2011 .Md.Zillur Rahaman honorable President of The Peoples Republic of Bangladesh & Chencellor of NSU confers the degrees.
The total number of graduates produced by NSU to 6677. many graduates are employed in national and multinational companies &some of graduates are government service holder.Now approximately 6000 Thousand Student are studying in campus.So It is considered that North South University is one of the top private universities of Bangladesh.
